Hit K-drama "Princess Hours" is gearing up for its return after 17 years since it made its debut.

According to JTBC News, the officials revealed that they are currently in the planning and audition stages.

In addition, amid the speculation regarding lead stars who will join the much-awaited remake, the outlet shared cited that rumors were spreading among actors regarding the upcoming audition and some celebrities have been preparing for an audition.

With this, the production company Group8 confirmed that they are in the initial stages of the casting, which includes the audition and planning stage for the drama.

"There are many works in production, so it isn't easy to produce it within this year," the official added pertaining to the "Princess Hours" remake release date.

However, Group8 hints at the possible airing date of the upcoming series.

"If production begins early next year, it is expected to be air in the middle or second half of 2024," the production company revealed.

As for the possible plot of the OG drama series, Group8 shared that changes will be made from the original K-drama.

The original series of "Princess Hours" was released in 2006 with Yoon Eun Hye, Ju Ji Hoon, Song Ji ho, and Kim Jeong Hoon playing the lead stars.

Based on the manhwa "Gung - Palace Love Story," the rom-com series depicts the story of ordinary high school student Shin Chae Kyung, played by Yoo Eun Hye, who becomes the soon-to-be wife of Crown Prince Lee Shin, played by Ju Ji Hoon.

At the time, viewers love how the actress portrayed the character well especially Chae Kyung struggles to adapt herself to royal life.

Due to the massive success of the K-drama, "Princess Hours" aired in the Philippines and had a Thai adaptation in 2017.

Following the confirmation of the "Princess Hours" remake, netizens and viewers expressed who among the stars they think should be included in the cast lineup.

Among the names that appeared to play Shin Chae Kyung are Kim Yoo Jung, IU, and Shin Ye Eun since they could ace the character's bubbly personality.

In addition, others also mentioned rookie actress Oh Ye Joo, who played the role of Crown Princess in "Under the Queen's Umbrella."

As for the male lead, fans are looking forward to seeing Moon Sang Min, Song Kang, and/or Hwang In Yeop.

To recall, Moon Sang Min recently played the Crown Prince in the historical K-drama "Under the Queen's Umbrella" while others believe that Song Kang and Hwang In Yeop will give justice to Crown Prince Lee Shin's role.
