In a report, Nielsen Korea recorded an average nationwide rating of 6.6 percent and 7.3 percent in metropolitan areas.
Helmed by the creators of "The Penthouse: War in Life," the 17-episode series almost has a similar premise as it focuses on revenge and power.
In "The Escape of the Seven," it depicts the revenge of Bang Da Mi's family after the high school student lived like a living hell in the hands of seven people.
As a result, her adoptive father and grandfather planned to avenge the death of Da Mi but ended up in a tricky situation after Matthew Lee or K stepped in.
After "The Escape of the Seven" season 1 aired its last episode on November 17, SB announced the return of the series through its second season.
The sequel is set to air sometime in 2024; however, the network has yet to announce who among the cast will reprise their roles.
In addition, "The Escape of the Seven" season 2 underwent major changes, starting with the show's director.
Per reports, director Joo Dong Min, who directed season 1, will not be returning for the sequel.
The broadcast network confirmed on October 13 that he is stepping down as the director for "The Escape of the Season" season 2.
As mentioned by a representative, "the decision was made in accordance with internal discussions."
Other than the thriller crime series, Joo Dong Min also helmed the 2018 K-drama "The Last Empress" with Kim Soon Ok, who penned "The Penthouse" and "The Escape of the Seven."
