How I Met Your Mother's final episode will take place in March next year. The show's network, CBS, has announced that the series will end with a one-hour finale that will take place at 8pm on March 31, 2014, a Monday.
The finale is expected to bring all the characters' storylines to a close, especially Ted Mosby's (played by Josh Radnor). The main character has been telling his children for years about how he met their mother. Expectations are high that he will finally get to do so at the finale.
How I Met Your Mother is currently on its ninth season, and it's slated to be the final one. The sitcom first came out on television back in 2005 and quickly gained a massive cult following. Set in Manhattan, it follows Ted's adventures in New York, along with his friends, Marshall Eriksen (Jason Segel), Robin Scherbatsky (Cobie Smulders), Barney Stinson (Neil Patrick Harris), and Lily Aldrin (Alyson Hannigan). The narrator is Ted in the year 2030, talking to his kids and going through his memories of how he met their mother.
Actress Cristin Milioti was revealed to be the Mother last May, and has already been appearing in episodes, though not with Ted. Season Nine so far has been all about Robin and Barney's wedding and the events during that particular weekend. There hasn't been much Ted action for a reason however - the wedding is said to be where he actually met his future wife. The episodes will go from the past to the future to fully round out the Mother's story. The plot will also go from the Mother meeting Robin, Barney, Lily, and Marshal first before finally showing her meeting Ted. Thus, fans are looking forward to the final episode that is said to be all about the much-awaited meeting.
