Park Hyung Sik and Park Shin Hye's reunion drama "Doctor Slump" is gaining spotlight not just in Korea but also abroad. The series became the most-watched non-English series on Netflix worldwide.
On February 7, FlixPatrol revealed in their gathered data that "Doctor Slump" was able to accumulate 2.9 million views and 10.2 million viewing hours from January 29 to Feb 4, ranking first in the Netflix global Top 10 TV series category (non-English).
The weekend drama was able to jump from 9th place to the No. 1 spot in just a span of one week.
'Doctor Slump' Occupies Top Spot in 9 Countries
Adding to its ongoing success and popularity, Park Hyung Sik's medical series topped in nine regions including Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, and Vietnam during its second week of primetime.
Furthermore, "Doctor Slump" also made it to the top 10 in more than 27 countries.
The rom-com series features the story of former high school rivals Nam Ha Neul and Yeo Jung Woo, who unexpectedly reunite after 14 years at their lowest points in life.
"Doctor Slump" is Park Shin Hye and Park Hyung Sik's second drama together following "The Heirs" in 2013. This also marks the actress' return to the small screen after a three-year hiatus following her marriage and the birth of her first child.
Meanwhile, viewers are excited and enthusiastic to see the duo as the newest drama couple who give fun performances every weekend. Aside from the series dominating the Netflix rankings, the romance drama also continues to beat its own high viewership rating every week.
'Captivating the King,' 'My Demon,' More Maintain Spots on Netflix Global List
Furthermore, other K-series also make significant impact and also garner popularity among international viewers. Jo Jung Suk and Shin Se Kyung's "Captivating the King" occupied the No. 6 spot in the Global non-English TV category.
Song Kang and Kim Yoo Jung's "My Demon" was able to rank seventh and impressively remained in the top 10 spot for eleventh consecutive weeks.
Kim Hyun Joo and Park Hee Soon's "The Bequeathed" slipped down eight spots to ninth place, while Ji Chang Wook and Shin Hye Sun's "Welcome to Samdalri" occupied the tenth position following its finale episode on January 21st.
