Versatile actor Lee Do Hyun shared the preparation he had for his first-ever movie "Exhuma," and the struggles and his affection for the work.

Lee Do Hyun Reveals Preparation on His First Big Screen Role

Lee Do Hyun played the role of Bong Gil, a shaman who recites sutras in the new movie "Exhuma." He shared his thoughts on his screen debut and how he was able to deliver his challenging role on screen.

The actor participated in an interview before his military enlistment and talked more about his last work before joining the service.

According to him, he has always acted while imagining how he would be shown on TV, that's why he was curious about how he would look on a huge screen for the first time. But despite the nervousness, the male star was also excited about the project.

"In some ways, it is very exciting for me. It was a big challenge, and I was a little scared because I had no experience with it. However, my fear was offset by the guidance of the director and seniors."

Lee Do Hyun Dishes on His Iconic Transformation in 'Exhuma'

Lee Do Hyun revealed that he learned to speak some Japanese lines and memorized Buddhist scriptures for the first time. As for him, every scene in the movie was a challenge for him. However, he was able to show what he prepared for, thanks to the advice and guidance of his seniors.

When talking about his unconventional transformation on screen, Lee Do Hyun took the opportunity to show a new side of himself to the viewers.

"From the start, the director gave me an idea about the look of my character, 'I want Bong Gil to make a strong first impression. If it's okay with you, I want his hair to be tied up or loose with a wig, and his tattoos to completely wrap around his body."

In response to the director's idea, Lee Do Hyun said, "I thought, 'When will I do something like this again? I should give it a try." And with that in mind, he readily agreed to make a bold transformation.

Lee Do Hyun was also honored to be able to work with his seniors Choi Min Sik, Kim Go Eun, and Yoo Hae Jin.

"They are the seniors I really wanted to act with at least once, so it was an honor just to meet and talk with them beyond just working together. I was grateful that we had the opportunity to act together."

'Exhuma' Becomes Box Office Hit A Week After Debut

Furthermore, "Exhuma" continues to garner more viewers a week after its debut. The film immediately made a significant achievement by surpassing more than 6 million moviegoers in just 11 days since it was released in cinemas.

Lee Do Hyun, who is currently fulfilling his military service, showed his support to the team and even shared a photo of him on Instagram.
