‘Chief Detective 1958’ Episode 6: Lee Je Hoon Finds the Culprit Behind the Team Leader’s Attack

"Chief Detective 1958" Episode 6 showcased the reunion of Lee Je Hoon and a significant person from his past. He also found out that the person was related to the team leader's attack.

Based on the longtime running MBC series "Chief Inspector," which was released in 1971, Lee Je Hoon takes on the role of legendary detective Park Young Han, whose mission is to bring order to Jongnam and end corruption among the police force.

Joining him on his journey are Jongnam Police Investigation Unit Team 1, played by Lee Dong Hwi, Choi Woo Sung, and Yoon Hyun Soo.

'Chief Detective 1958' Episode 6 Rating: Action Drama Retains Good Viewership

As the MBC crime-action series enters its second half, "Chief Detective 1958" Episode 6 retained good ratings.

In a report by Nielsen Korea, the police K-drama recorded an average nationwide rating of 9.0 percent, making it the highest rating to date for its Saturday broadcast.

However, Lee Je Hoon's K-drama fails to surpass its personal best of 10.8 percent in Episode 3.

'Chief Detective 1958' Episode 6 Recap: Park Young Han Confronts Higher-Ups After Chief Yu's Incident

The episode began with a conversation between the old Park Young Han and his grandson, who also entered the police force because of him.

The retried detective, who is now running a small store at Jongnam, gave the younger some words of encouragement after he expressed his regret and frustration for being unable to catch the culprit of a recent murder case.

Meanwhile, the episode also featured the continuation of Chief Yu's incident. The unit 1 group found out about the shocking news involving their superior, who was in a critical condition after he got attacked by a group of unidentified men.

While the chief of unit 1 was unconscious at the hospital, Jongnam Police welcomed their new superintendent, Baek Do Suk, who was the captain of Park Young Han when he was a student soldier.

Young Han and the rest of the team were disappointed with their colleagues and the higher-ups, who seemed to be celebrating Chief Yu's state.

However, even before the new superintendent started his duty, he and Young Han had a clash after they were able to recall each other.

In addition, Young Han had a hunch that their new boss had something to do with it.

Lo and behold, after a series of investigations, he found out that Baek Do Suk and Chief Choi Dal Sik had something in common. The latter recruited Baek to their elite military group, and as a deal, he had to make Chief Yu suffer.

In the last scene, Park Young Han arrested Chief Choi, but because of his rank in the military, he was the one who got punished.

Thankfully, Chief Yu came fresh from the hospital to give his testimony regarding the incident.

Will this reveal the true agenda of Chief Choi and Baek Do Suk in the police force?
