"I wasted too much money. After some bad things happened to me, my family became harmonious," she said, adding that she returned to school during her 7-year hiatus.

"Time flies so fast. I first entered the Seoul Institute of the Arts in 2003 but dropped out after six months. After working hard to make a living and being absent from school for nearly 10 years, I desired to return to school and was accepted to the Department of Imaging at Sungkyunkwan University in 2011."

According to her, she spent four years at the university and graduated at the age of 39. As for the reason she opted to ditch the conventional way of living, Goo Hye Sun said she chose this because of its practicality.

"I don't have any place to live. I actually don't have a home right now. My mother's house is in Incheon, and I keep going back and forth from there."

Since her parents home is quite far from the university, she used to rent dorms near the school, but she was having a hard time renting a place that would only allow her to stay for three months.

Due to this, she decides to live inside her car to avoid going back and forth from Incheon to Seoul, which will take her 3 to 4 hours.

Goo Hye Sun Considers Herself Successful Despite the Challenges

According to the actress, she doesn't consider her life to be a failure.

Despite leaving show business and choosing to continue to study, Goo Hye Sun did well in school and was recognized by the school professors.
