The 12-episode K-drama highlights South Korea's Prime Minister Park Dong Ho (Sol Kyung Gu), who wants to punish President Jang Il Jun (Kim Hong Pa) for his corruption involving powerful conglomerates run by chaebols.

However, Deputy Prime Minister Jung Soo Jin (Kim Hee Ae) is determined to stop Dong Ho from putting an end to the collaboration between the president and family-owned conglomerates by seizing his power.

Released exclusively on Netflix, viewers get to see the intense confrontations between the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Jung Soo Jin on the political battlefield.

'The Whirlwind' Episode 1: Did Prime Minister Park Dong Ho Succeed in His Assassination Plan?

Episode 1 showcased the interaction between the prime minister and the president at the Blue House.

It was a flashback hours before the assassination and the arrest of Prime Minister Park Dong Ho, who was accused of accepting bribes worth millions from an individual named Mr. Choi.

During their meeting, it was revealed that Dong Ho, who has been loyal to Jang Il Jun, was framed by the president to cover up the crime and take the fall of his son, making the prime minister the sacrificial lamb.

The episode also revealed that Park Dong Ho once saved the life of the president during a cardiac arrest.

However, as for Prime Minister Park, he takes revenge instead of pleading for mercy.

He came prepared and began the assassination by switching the president's vape to a substance that would cause him an immediate cardiac arrest.

As the Prime Minister returned to his office, his secretary, Seo Jeong Yeon, who knew about the plan, expressed her concern regarding the assassination.

Meanwhile, the president was immediately rushed to the hospital, which caused alarm, especially for the Deputy Prime Minister Jung Soo Jin, because of their involvement with the Daejin group.

She is afraid that she and Daejin's Vice President, Kang Sang Un, will end up in prison if the president dies.

Amid the whirlwind of events, the doctors announced in a press conference that the president's surgery went well, but they are telling the public and the media that he is in a coma.

As for the prime minister, he assured the public that he would take over the reins until the president returned to office.

'The Whirlwind' Episode 2: Prime Minister Park Dong Ho's Tactic Against Daejin's VP

The second episode starts with a flashback during the president's and the first lady's return from an international trip. As the Blue House offers a warm welcome to the first family, Prime Minister Park Dong Ho seemed hesitant due to the case against Assemblyman Seo Gi Ta.

As his secretary rushes to him, the prime minister receives devastating news that the assemblyman, who was the brother of his secretary, was found dead and the ruling was suicide.

The scene pans to the president, who smiles back at Park Dong Ho.

At the present time, Prime Minister Park held a cabinet meeting, and the first step that he took as the person in charge was to drop Jung Soo Jin as the Deputy Prime Minister, effective immediately.

As she leaves the vicinity, he gets a call from her secretary notifying him that the attack was an assassination attempt, and he suspects that someone from the outside gave it to him.

She immediately tells Kang Sang Un to make it their bullet against the Prime Minister if everything goes south.

However, Kim Sang Un uses this in hopes of taming the Prime Minister and making sure he has the upper hand over him.

Prior to this, Soo Jin warned Sang In that Park Dong Ho is like a wild dog that can't be tamed, but he didn't listen.

He sets up a meeting, hoping that the prime minister will agree to his proposal.

However, he saw Park Dong Ho's reflection putting a substance on his liquor.

Just when he thought that he outsmarted him, the prime minister drank the glass with poison and framed Sang Un for it. He was the one arrested for a planned assassination against the prime minister.
