The movie "Veteran 2" or "I, The Executioner" reached an important milestone, as it exceeded 4 million viewers within six days of its release. However, despite this success, the sequel to the popular 2015 film received polarizing reviews based on the opinions of either critics or general audiences.
The film currently holds a low rating on Naver (6.54) and Daum (3.3 out of 5), in contrast to the first film's high ratings in the early 90s. Director Ryu Seung-wan's 'Veteran 2' was received with mixed reviews. The original was critically acclaimed for its good and evil plot and impactful villains.

In contrast, the second film was criticized due to the confusing narrative and absence of a strong plot. By the morning of September 18, the film had amassed a total of 4,001,565 viewers, which was enough for the break-even of 4 million admissions.
Moreover, "Veteran 2" held this rating in flat graphs by achieving such results in just six days. It turned out to be faster than older hits like "Veteran," "The Outlaws 2," and "Seoul Spring."
The success of "Veteran 2" may be attributed to no competition. Many major releases were postponed or rescheduled. The film is expected to have a booking rate of almost 70%, which indicates significant interest from the public.
Looking ahead, "Veteran 2" will face new competition as highly anticipated films like "The Love Story of the Metropolis," featuring Kim Go-eun and No Sang-hyun, will be released on October 1, which will be followed by "Joker: Folie à Deux" on October 2.
For now, "Veteran 2" dominates the charts, only challenged by a couple of movies like Joker: Folie à Deux" and the re-released "Begin Again."
