The young and vibrant MBC weathercaster Oh Yo Anna left her fans and colleagues stunned when she tragically passed away in September at the tender age of 28.
Her death was just announced today.
In her last social media post, from Sept. 12, she mentioned her battles with a facial injury that eventually ended her ability to perform her duties.
In her last update, Oh shared a medical certificate outlining her injuries, which she said included "broken teeth" and "facial fractures" from a fall.
She then told her followers that she wouldn't be able to present the 9:30 weather broadcast that week, offering thanks to a classmate who covered for her.
"I am so grateful for your love and support," she wrote.
Oh's passing was confirmed by MBC on Dec 10, sparking an outpouring of condolences from TV viewers and netizens.
The exact circumstances of her death are not clear, and no cause of death has been given.
Oh began her career at the broadcaster in May 2021 and quickly grew popular thanks to her warm presence on the screen.
In November 2022, she made an appearance on the tvN variety show "You Quiz on the Block," where she described the honor of receiving a weathercaster "job" and her desire to reach the "next level" in her career.
Oh was previously an idol trainee who was once a promising star after winning a beauty award at an audition held by JYP Entertainment.
She also played an active role in promoting health by participating in events like the 8.15 Liberation Day Run.
