Oh Yo Anna, an MBC weathercaster who was also featured on the show "You Quiz on the Block," has died, aged 28. News of her death—which took place last September—became known on December 10, 2024.
According to Sports World, Oh's family released the news after a mourning period, industry sources said. The cause of her death has not been specified.
Oh, who became known for her weekday and weekend weather segments, was chosen as a representative weathercaster of MBC when she appeared as a guest on the TV show "You Quiz on the Block" in 2022.
After her show, the star took to Instagram to say, "It is an even more precious memory because I am lacking. I am so grateful to the production staff and my seniors."
Oh's Instagram account has been inactive since September 12, leading to fans voicing their concern. Many left comments expressing their shock and concern, with messages like "I wish she healed completely" and "I really miss the ever-useful lovely Anna."
"A tough and vibrant friend," an industry insider said of Oh following her death. "Her weathercaster colleagues were also very sad. She had a promising future."
Prior to her career as an entertainer, Oh won the Hermoso Beauty Award at the 13th JYP open audition in 2017 and garnered attention for her graceful presence at the Chunhyang Festival Chunhyang Selection Contest.
She began working at MBC after passing the weathercaster exam and connected with the public through programs such as "930 MBC News" and "12 MBC News."
The news of her passing has touched the hearts of those who knew her and her fans as well.
