Actress Cha Joo Young of hit K-Drama "The Glory" is back in the limelight with her new role in the period drama series "The Queen Who Crowns."
Set in the 15th Moryeo dynasty of Korea, the show opened with two episodes on Jan. 12, 2025, with a racy nude scene between co-stars Cha Joo Young's character, Queen Wongyeong, and Lee Hyun Wook's character, King Taejong.
Cha also addressed her nude scene in "The Glory" during a previous interview, explaining that CGI (computer-generated imagery) had been used on set to create a specific look for her character.
"We had both a body double and CG ready. For the scene where my back is shown, there was a body double for Jae Joon.
But the part where I pull up my shirt and step through a doorway, that's me. Yep. The body is mine. But for that scene, there was some CG editing done," she said.

Viewers speculated if the same practices were used during The "Queen Who Crowns," especially after Cha's topless scene, which has circulated in PG-15 and R-rated versions.
In the 19+ version, Cha Joo Young and Lee Hyun Wook are seen together in bed, which leaves viewers wondering if the nudity is real.
A @style rep confirmed viewer suspicions: CG was used for the latest scene.
The production team must have still opted to have Cha Joo Young's topless scene edited with CG to "draw more attention to the marital relationship between Queen Wongyeong and King Taejong" in "The Queen Who Crowns," they said.
Although CGI usage is a controversial topic, "The Queen Who Crowns" made a solid start with a resounding viewership of 5.1% — the highest TVN weekday K-Drama opener since January 2024-end, the show has now surpassed its previous record in episode 4, receiving a nationwide average rating of 5.6%.
With the audacious narrative and themes of "The Queen Who Crowns" still fresh in the minds of fans, many are left speculating about how events will proceed from here.
