Intel is coming out with some new concepts at CES Vegas 2014. Well, other tech firms have taken a shot at 3D imagery and making devices more human like, but Intel will take this idea one step further for Laptops.
It describes a new level of user interaction that goes beyond touch sensing or keyboards by improving "natural" interface. Examples of this might be voice and gesture.and voice.
Intel's Senior VP and General Manager of Perceptual ComputingMooly Eden told reporters, "Intuitive means you don't need an instruction book to communicate with the machine."
Intel executive Anil Nanduri said in a CNET.com report, "Perceptual computing is about everything and is device agnostic in many ways,"adding, It's going to be everywhere." Nanduri adds, "Once you give computers the ability to assess depth, a lot of wonderful things can happen."
The big name chipmaker behind the success of the PC announced 3D-camera technology would be available on laptops that it has developed for sale in 2014.
On Monday, the chipmaker showed off a 3D camera supported by hardware with that is the same size as an index finger. This is the first among the "Real Sense " line of products included in perceptural computing.
Eden explained that "Real Sense" is working with Asus, Acer, NEC, Dell, HP, Fugitsu, and Lenovo to integrate the technology into their products, including a two-in-one computer,CNET reported.
Firms like Microsoft which owns Kinect and SoftKinectic's cameras called Depthsense have what Intel is offering. It is no surprise that Apple purchased PrimeSense, another big game player in depth sensing hardware.
Despite not being an early bird to 3D technology, analysts say that Intel's name in the computing business has the capacity to bring the concept forward as built-in product for many devices.
