Here's some breaking "Avatar" sequel news. It looks like Jake Sully and Neytiri are back for the "Avatar" sequels in fact they will be back for all three of the sequels.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana have finalized deals to reprise their characters, Jake Sully and Neytiri, for the next three "Avatar" sequels.
The three "Avatar" sequels are being made back-to-back-to-back by talented blockbuster director James Cameron, who last August enlisted Josh Friedman, Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, and Shane Salerno to help him work on the screenplays of the three "Avatar" sequels.
The first actor who signed on for all three new movies was Stephen Lang, who played mad Marine Colonel Quaritch in the first film. This is an interesting reveal and probably a huge spoiler for the "Avatar" sequels because his character dies in the first film, so it will be interesting to see how James Cameron resurrects him.
Fans are speculating whether the Colonel Quaritch we saw in the movie was the actual colonel, it could be that he is an "avatar" of the real Colonel Quaritch. We will know once the movie hits theaters.
Other plot details are being kept locked on Pandora, although according to the Hollywood reporter, they have learned that Jake Sully and Neytiri have kids.
When talking about Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana and their roles, this is what James Cameron had to say.
"Jake Sully is a rare combination of passion, strength, street smarts and soul, which requires a lot from an actor. Sam brought to the role a combination of sensitivity, vulnerability and strength. Zoe captured every aspect of the character I envisioned, bringing to Neytiri a mix of delicacy, fierceness and incredible physicality. I am beyond pleased they'll be returning with us to Pandora."
James Cameron and Jon Landau will produce through their Lightstorm Entertainment banner.
The first "Avatar" sequel will hit theaters in December 2016, with the second to follow in December 2017 and the third in December 2018.
