Infinite's Kim Myung Soo, also known as L, has chosen his next drama role. The idol singer played an indie rocker turned idol trainee in "Shut Up Flower Boy Band" and the young So Ji Sub in horror romcom "The Master's Sun." Next he will play Secretary Gil, the right hand man of IT genius Cha Jung Woo, in the upcoming drama "Cunning Single Lady."
Secretary Gil was once a gaming center part-timer. He has been loyal to Cha Jung Woo, played by Joo Sang Wook, since those early days and his boss is now a wealthy man.
The cunning single lady of the title is actually his boss' superficial ex wife, Na Ae Ra, played by Lee Min Jung. Cha Jung Woo was only an engineering student when the couple first met. Marriage was not as easy as Na Ae Ra imagined it would be and the couple divorced. She decided she would be better off without him.
But things did not improve for Na Ae Ra. After the marriage broke up life became even more difficult for her. She dreams of falling in love again. So when she meets her ex again and he's a wealthy man, she figures why not fall for someone she has already fallen for once before. She does everything she can to seduce him.
But Cha Jung Woo doesn't want any part of her. What he wants is revenge for the way she treated him last time. That could mean he will pretend to fall for her and plan to dump her. Will he able to carry out his plan or will the feelings this couple once had for each other win out? And how does L fit into this picture?
Only the writers know for sure. But one thing is sure.
Although some time has passed since their divorce these two characters still have a lot of growing up to do before they can have a grown-up relationship. They also have a lot of hard feelings to get past.
Lee Min Jung was last seen in "All About My Romance," which did not get the best ratings.
In 2013, Joo Sang Wook played a doctor in the popular drama "Good Doctor" and also appeared in the drama "Ten 2."
Director Do Dung Sun, who directed "Queen of Housewives" and "Me Too, Flower," will direct.
Choi Soo Young and Lee Ha Na will write the screrenplay. It airs on Feb. 26, following "Miss Korea."
