After being on hiatus for four years, Kelis is back on her music thing in 2014 with a new album titled "Food."
Kelis' new album, produced by Dave Sitek and released on the UK indie Label Ninja Tunem, debuts on April 22nd.
In a recent interview the 34-year-old ex-wife of rapper Nas expressed how much she is looking forward to the lunch of her new album "Food."
The "Milkshake" singer claims the new project is very dramatic with a full band that includes a horn section and string orchestra.
"I'm really excited about it," said Kelis. "I don't rush to put albums out so when I do I kinda like to wallow in the mix."
The singer reveals that she came up with the titled "Food," when making music and eating at the same time.
"Well we recorded in the house. It was Dave's house. He lives like really close to me. So it's a huge band and people are there," Kelis explained. "People are hungry. So we're eating, recording, singing, an eating some more. It wasn't the plan but that's what it just ended up being because that's who we are. It's nice because it just came natural. It felt really good and it tasted really too."
According to Thisisrnb.com, a press release described the new album as "a soul record that’s as raw and alternative as it is classic.”
Kelis will be performing songs from her new album "Food" at different venues this year. In February she will be singing at BBC Radio 6 Music Festival while she is scheduled to make the line up for The Great Escape Festival of Europe in May.
