The Chicago Bulls wants to consider the possibility of changing Derrick Rose's role within the team, from point guard to shooting guard in order to extend his career and provide greater flexibility within the roster.

Known for his aggressive skill inside the court, the 2011 NBA MVP Derrick Rose has used that same intensity to win him games way back in high school until the big stage in NBA. But that same aggression has also led Derrick Rose to some serious, career-ending injuries. Having torn an ACL during the fourth quarter of the first game of 2011 Eastern Conference play-offs against the Philadelphia 76ers.

He also has a variety of ailments, including back spasms, turf toe, and a recent meniscus tear that almost ended his career.

Another byproduct of moving Rose to a different role is that the Bulls could potentially become a better team with a shake-up - but that does not mean that Rose is a bad point guard. Quite the opposite, actually. He did win an MVP playing the position, so there isn't a reasonable argument that moving him will improve point guard play.

To be sure, no position on an NBA court is an easy one to play. Each of them takes a serious physical toll on the player, but each position has different levels of responsibility. Removing some from Rose's plate will benefit both him and the team.

Now, even if Rose is moved, there is no telling how he will react. He could accept the switch as is or resist the change. If winning a championship is as important to him as he has says it is, though, the transition should be smooth.

After all, it is in the team's best interest to find a way to keep Rose on the court, and putting him at shooting guard is the best place to start.
