Robert Luketic has come aboard to direct The "ExpendaBelles" the female equivalent of the "Expendables"
The fact that there is a female version of the "Expendables" is odd as the "Expendables 3" plot mentions that there will be a female member of the "Expendables" played by Ronda Rousey.
The original "ExpendaBelles" plot details were released and drew a lot of flak from viewers as they said the plot was too sexist and degrading to women
"When America's Navy SEALs are wiped out trying to penetrate the island lair of a deadly despot who has captured one of the world's top nuclear scientists, it becomes clear that there is no such thing as the right man for the job and that this is a mission so impossible that only women can handle it. The only way in: some of the world's deadliest female operatives must pose as high-class call-girls shipped in by private plane to satisfy a dictator-and instead save the scientist and the day."
Some viewers noted "Why can the MEN just go to an island and kick some ass but when it's the FEMALES turn, they have to pretend to be prostitutes?"
Other fans noted "The title is what irritates me the most. It has nothing to do with the Expendables. and not only that, expendable isn't a masculine word, so why pretend there's a feminine version of it?" said a user on Cinemablend.
A user posted on IMDB "This Expendabelles bullshit so f**king sexist. Can Hollywood stop degrading women???"
Critics of the "ExpendaBelles" noted that the director has made movies that are "flops" and that the writers of "ExpendaBelles" are not known for writing action movies and that the writers are just known for writing "Legally Blonde".
After the original plot details were released, the makers of the film released another plot summary that changes some words around to hide the fact that the "ExpendaBelles" will pose as prostitutes and strippers.
"The Expendables universe has a new team. An elite group of highly trained female mercenaries are brought together for a covert hostage rescue mission. Once they are behind enemy lines, the women discover that they will also need to topple an evil dictator bent on world domination. It becomes clear there is no such thing as the right man for the job. The Expendabelles is the ultimate story of female empowerment and kick-ass teamwork."
So the big question is who should star? According to Deadline, the filmmakers are now in talks with Meryl Streep, Cameron Diaz and Milla Jovovich. But as of now, nobody is set and that they are just now coming up with the short list of actresses they cast for the "ExpendaBelles" movie.
The "ExpendaBelles" is an Action/Comedy movie that is produced by Sylvester Stallone and Kevin King. Executive producers are Heidi Jo Markel, Julie Kroll, Avi Lerner, Trevor Short, Boaz Davidson, John Thompson and Mark Gill.
