Looks like CW's hit series Arrow is about to take a rather darker turn. So fans of the Arrow series out there, get ready to be spoiled because here is some pulse-pounding news.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Arrow co-creator Andrew Kreisberg said the next series of episodes (which is scheduled to kick-off Feb. 26) will feature "great big villains, one after the other." Smart move, Fool contributor Tim Beyers says in a video, but he isn't the only one who thinks the same way.

It looks like the series is finding a fan base by regularly exploring new areas of the DC universe. The recent introductions include the beginnings of the Suicide Squad, a government-sponsored super villain team and the assassin Nyssa al Ghul played by Spartacus' Katrina Law coupled by the return of the Huntress (Jessica De Gouw) and the all-woman super hero team the Birds of Prey.

Each of these quantities adds more drama on Arrow while increasing the odds that Stephen Amell's heroic persona will need help which in turn, increases the odds we'll see creators Kreisberg along with Marc Guggenheim and Greg Berlanti to introduce new characters; both heroes and villains as the show progresses' further.

As Tim says: "Think of it as a staging area for Time Warner (NYSE: TWX ) to test the veracity of new live-action DC projects."

There's plenty to like about the strategy. Consider the buzz on The Flash, a forthcoming pilot which has spun out of the two highest-rated episodes of Arrow's second season. Actor Grant Gustin will portray the title character, and initial reports suggest he'll face some tough foes right out the gate. Precisely what fans and Time Warner investors should want from the show and from Arrow, Tim says.

So DC universe what is your take on this. Do you believe Warner's efforts to develop the TV side of the DC Cinematic Universe will pay off at the box office? Will find out soon enough when the latest updates comes to surface.
