It seems that Flappy Bird developer Dong Nguyen's decision to remove Flappy Bird has not only created angry individuals who are desperate to try out Flappy Bird, but it also spawned ones who would go as far as proclaiming Flappy Bird creator Dong Nguyen, dead online.
Huzlers.com released a news article about Flappy Bird creator Dong Nguyen committing suicide by putting a bullet through his head. However due to inconsistencies in the story as well as Huzlers.com being a satire news site the "Flappy Bird creator Dong Nguyen commits suicide" story is a complete hoax.
Yahoo Malaysia points out several things that make the Huzlers report inconsistent. According to Yahoo Malaysia, the Huzlers report claims that Nguyen was found in his New York apartment when in fact, the Flappy Bird creator is known to be in Vietnam.
Huzlers.com has a disclaimer at the bottom-most part of their website which read, "Huzlers.com is a combination of real shocking news and satire news to keep its visitors in a state of disbelief."
Read an excerpt of Huzlers report below:
"SAN FRANCISCO - Flappy Bird developer Dong Nguyen has just been found dead in his home with a gunshot wound in his head. Authorities are confirming that Nguyen committed suicide by shooting himself in the head with a pistol. Authorities are saying that the sensational game Flappy Bird had something to do with the suicide.
There has also been 7 reports of other suicides around the U.S. today alone. Flappy Bird developer Dong Nguyen has just taken Flappy Bird off app stores this morning and is believed to be the cause of the suicides."
Fans did not take kindly to the news that someone in the guise of "satire" is proclaiming somebody as dead.
