Great news for all horror fans as Bethesda has just announced that "The Evil Within" will be released on August 26, 2014! "The Evil Within" is a survival horror game developed at Tango Gameworks under the direction of renowned game designer and studio head, Shinji Mikami.

"The Evil Within" aims to embody the meaning of pure survival horror. Players will experience a disturbing reality as they try to break free from warped machinations that could only exist in the most horrifying worlds.

A trailer for the Japanese version of "The Evil Within" called "Psycho Break" was released on the Playstation Japan Youtube page recently.

Aside from the new trailer, there are some gameplay videos released for the "The Evil Within" and from what can be seen in the videos, the game will be pretty nerve-wracking.

The plot of "The Evil Within" according to Bethesda Softworks is that "When Detective Sebastian Castellanos and his partners, Joseph Oda and Julie "Kid" Kidman, rush to the scene of a gruesome mass murder, a mysterious, powerful force is lying in wait for them. Witnessing the killing of fellow police officers one after another, Sebastian is then attacked and loses consciousness. Waking up in a land where monsters are wandering about, he has to fight his way through a world of death and his close friend's madness in order to understand what's going on. Sebastian has to face his fears in order to survive on a journey to discover what lies in the shadows of that mysterious force"

"The Evil Within" is powered by id Tech 5, so it will be interesting to see whether Tango Gameworks has been able to take advantage of John Carmack's engine or not.

"The Evil Within" will be released on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on August 26, 2014.
