We all remember "Beetlejuice" as that nightmarishly themed comedy-fantasy movie from 1988 directed by none other than the amazing Tim Burton. Well, now it seems there's a sequel creatively titled "Beetlejuice 2" is probably in the works.
In an interview at a Robocop press junket with MTV, Michael Keaton confirmed that he is in fact talking to Tim Burton about the possibilities of a "Beetlejuice 2".
"I've emailed Tim a couple of times, talked to the writer a couple of times, but all really, really preliminary stuff until relatively recently. I always said that it's the one thing I'd like to do again, if I ever did anything again. But it kind of required Tim to be involved some way or another. Now it looks like he is involved. And without giving too much away, we've talked to each other, and emailed each other, and if he's in, it's going to be hard not to be in."
It's exciting to hear that if a sequel happens then at least Tim Burton will be involved, Fans have always wanted "Beetlejuice" to be in Tim Burton's hands and they wouldn't like imagining a "Beetlejuice 2" happening without the famed Tim Burton.
In fact, Michael Keaton and Tim Burton aren't the only ones likely to return to the "Beetlejuice 2". Last November, 2013 Winona Ryder, who played Lydia in the first film, said the sequel is likely.
"I'm kind of sworn to secrecy," said Winona Ryder. "But it sounds like it might be happening." She also added that it would not be a remake. "It's 27 years later, and I have to say, I love Lydia so much. She was such a huge part of me. I would be really interested in what she is doing 27 years later."
