Pau Gasol News Update 2014: It appears that the Phoenix Suns is not the only team interested in having Pau Gasol. Charlotte Bobcats is showing their desire in having the big man in their roster. According to Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer, the LA Lakers and the Charlotte Bobcats have held some talks about a Gasol trade. It appers that the Phoenix Sun.

According to Fansided, the Lakers are said to want youth and/or draft picks in a Gasol deal, but according to Bonnell, the Bobcats are hesitant to make such a move.

"While adding Gasol could give the Bobcats the short-term boost to make the playoffs, giving up a first-round pick would make Gasol more of a long-term investment. That's where the Bobcats would have pause"

Charlotte certainly need to work a deal financially as they have Ben Gordon and Ramon Sessions, both on expiring contracts, which would match Gasol's $19 million dollar contract.

Sports World News insiders believe the best shot at moving Gasol, is to a team that believes he can factor into their mid-term plans on a medium-sized contract. Gasol to the Timberwolves makes a lot of sense, as Nikola Pekovic can do a lot of the banging down low while Gasol and point guard Ricky Rubio to re-create some Spanish national team magic.

According to SBNation, the Lakers would likely demand a draft pick in return for Gasol. The Bobcats do not own their 2014 first-round draft pick but have the rights to the Portland Trail Blazers and Detroit Pistons' pick for the upcoming draft.

Gasol has not played in February after being distressed with a groin injury, though he had a very productive January. As quoted from SB Nation, he averaged 20.8 points and 11.9 rebounds per game through the first month of 2014, turning around a slow start to his season after undergoing knee procedures over the summer. His versatile skill set on offense could make a formidable pairing with big man Al Jefferson.
