"Modern Family" star Sarah Hyland returns to work on the set after she was victim of an indecent assault by a fan during a party hosted by Qantas at Siebel Pier One hotel in Sydney, Australia. This led Matt Prokop, Sarah Hyland's boyfriend to be concerned for her safety and accompanied her during the set along with extra security if something like this ever happens again.
It was meant to be an unforgettable night for Sarah Hyland and the rest of the cast on the Sydney Harbour, with expensive champagne flowing and an A-list crowd welcoming them. Posing for fans and having a good time, until things quickly turned sour when an aggressive fan grabbed her chest after asking for her autograph.
Police arrested the fan indentified as Nedal Lakmas and will face court over the incident next month. Lakmas is a 29-year old celebrity autograph hunter and "selfie-with-the-stars" fanatic who has posed with visiting famous women including Katy Perry, Kirsten Dunst and Grammy-winner Lorde.
The incident left her shaken and in tears as she quickly left the event. She took to Twitter to address her fans after she left the party.
Matt Prokop also took to Twitter and tweeted;
Hyland arrived on set on Friday flanked by a team of bodyguards and her boyfriend Matt Prokop was on hand for moral support. At one point he put his arm protectively around her.
Members of the state police force, one wearing a bullet proof vest and another with a pistol strapped to his thigh, also accompanied her to the beach. Four state police officers have been hired to protect the Modern Family cast on Bondi, although a police spokesman said the paid officers who shadowed Hyland had already been employed for crowd control prior to last night's alleged assault.
Hyland appeared generally subdued between takes, no doubt still shaken by the incident in the previous night, but she did manage to giggle when she was getting sprayed by sunscreen by a crew member. Once filming began, she removed her grey dressing gown and Ugg boots to reveal a blue swimsuit. She was joined by her cast mates Sofia Vergara, Julie Bowen and Ariel Winter.
Sarah Hyland has been in Australia with the rest of the Modern Family cast shooting scenes for a special holiday episode of the program and had been in high spirits earlier in the night, attending the Vampire Academy Australian premiere at the Event Cinemas on George St. just an hour before the incident.
