Google Glass 2 price and specs are eagerly awaited by wearable device enthusiasts who would like to try it out.

According to Gizmag's Will Shanklin, Google Glass Explorer Edition is still in beta. In 2012, when the concept was being thought about, it was futuristic, but now that people are shelling out close to a $1500 for the Glass, it looks like a reality.

The final version in retail stores may vary differently and by the time it hits the mass market, - expected to be later this year - the Google Glass 2 might take on a new face altogether. The Google Glass price drop might make it affordable for most consumers although it's probably still going to hover around a high-end smartphone.

Most likely, you may not want to become an Explorer for Google Glass unless you're a developer, or a keen early adapter who has lots of money to spend on tech devices.

Shanklin says the concept of Google Glass 2 raises some important questions and exciting opportunities for the tech industry and some concerns too.
