MWC 2014 rumors surround the much-hyped release of the Samsung Galaxy S5 along with the Gear 2, Gear 2 Nano, and Gear Fit.
The Samsung Fit is more than just a fitness band; it has a heart rate monitor and a step tracker. These functions overlap the rumored iWatch from Apple, which is also exploring a way to prevent heart attacks using its iWatch.
Samsung's early launch in 2014 of a new flagship product puts a dent in Apple's revolutionary technology because by the time Apple release the iWatch, the concept would be old.
Last year's entry of the Samsung Gear 1 was a similar situation when Samsung announced the initial version of the Smart Gear.
Simon Stanford, vice president of IT & mobile for Samsung Electronics UK & Ireland told the Guardian "Offering extended connectivity features, stylish customisation options and a robust application network, we have enhanced everything that people love about the original Galaxy Gear to create a second generation of wearable devices that offer unparalleled smart freedom."
Without a doubt, analysts say that Apple too was looking forward to the health and fitness market to target its iWatch. This was dubbed the 'healthbook' application was added to its next iteration of its iOS, and iPhone software. An early announcement of the Gear Fit at the MWC 2014 rumorworld is bound to cause a delay of at least two months for Apple to make a comeback .
"We're excited to be expanding our Gear product portfolio with a range of unique devices so there is something for everyone, irrespective of their different lifestyles, interests and needs," said Samsung's Simon Stanford
He added, "The new range includes the Gear Fit which we've designed specifically to help those of our customers that want to live a more fit and active life but don't want to sacrifice their own personal style or ability to stay connected on the go."
