Academy Awards Host. Ellen Degeneres, took to Twitter to post a selfie with a bunch of celebrities namely, Jennifer Lawrence, Julia Roberts, Meryl Streep, Bradley Cooper, Kevin Spacey and Brad Pitt using her own smart phone during the love ceremony, Oscars 2014.

It was not only the record of most retweeted tweet that was made but Ellen degeneres was also the very first user to top 1 million retweets for a single Twitter post according to nydailynews.com

@TheEllenShow posted the legendary mega-selfie while hosting the Oscars making 1,300,00 retweets in less than an hour. Among the other celebrities who joined the famous selfie were Angelina Jolie, Jared Leto and Liza Minelli who wasn't seen in the selfie itself.

It was said by nydailynews.com that it only took 34 minutes to break the Twitter record of the previous top tweet by US President Obama which is the victory photo from the night of his re-election that was tweeted last November 6, 2012 that gained more than 780,000 retweets. "We had a good run, little tweet. We had a good run" posted by Laura Olin who was a part of Obama social media team who sent the tweet about Obama.

Degeneres' popular tweet literally and figuratively broke Twitter for some users and it caused official @TheAcademy account to apologize not once but twice. "We crashed and broke Twitter. We have made history. See, Meryl [Streep], what we did, you and I? It's back up again so it has the most retweets ever and we are all winners tonight. That's what it means." Ellen said.

Ellen got two thumbs up in hosting Oscars 2014. It has been said and it was seen that Ellen did a great job in the Academy Awards, but there are still different reviews about the Oscars from the host to the winners of the night.
