Oscars 2014: Ellen DeGeneres Orders Pizza: The owner of Big Mama's and Papa's Pizzeria in West Hollywood, Edgar Martirosyan, was surprised with his big moment in the spotlight and also with the big financial boon in his business.
Media reports say Edgar was asked to deliver pizzas to writers and was shocked to see Ellen leading him to the stage. Edgar said "They told me I'm going to deliver pizzas for writers, and then when I went there, Ellen (DeGeneres) came out and told me, 'Just follow me,'. "When I was going, I realized I'm on the stage, and I just went. I wasn't nervous. I was cool. I was shocked. I didn't know what was going on." He said that the Oscar order was 20 large pizzas of different flavours and varieties.
According to Edgar the total $1,000 was the total tip given to him by Ellen Degeneres. $400 came from the other celebrities and $600 came from Ellen Degeneres herself. He said that he will be sharing the biggest tip that he has ever received to his staff and co-workers. "Four hundred actually was ... from actors, and then Ellen added another $600," the pizza delivery man stated.
His experience on stage, according to the pizza delivery man, wasn't really different compared to other deliveries that he made. "I'm really calm. It's good," he said when asked about his sudden fame. "I thought it was just a regular delivery. I didn't know I was going to go on the stage. I took the order, I delivered, that was it,"
He said that he was excited to deliver the pizza to his favourite star customer that night, Julia Roberts. He also said that he had five drivers working Sunday night, but it was a busy night so he had to deliver the pizzas to the Oscars theatre himself.
After nydailynews.com asked him about his instant rise and fame in his business, he said that it was a great boost in his business and he was receiving a lot of calls from customers. "It's good, a lot of calls. It's busy, it's good." Edgar said. He also stated that he was getting calls from Armenia and Russia his home country where he used to live in.
