Is "Frozen" promoting the gay rights movement?
Disney's animated juggernaut "Frozen" has certainly captured the hearts of everyone from around the world. From its lovable characters, to the songs that got everyone singing endlessly over and over again. Frozen has definatly won the hearts of children and adults alike, except three people. These people are not particularly fond of the movie and discovered something's that would irk the masses.
They believe that Frozen promotes the "gay movement" or homosexual propaganda, according to blogger Kathryn Skagg and two religious right radio hosts Kevin Swanson and Steve Vaughn. Sounds absurd to many, but let's hear them out as to why they say it so.
Kathryn Skagg wrote in her blog titled "A Well-Behaved Mormon Woman" that Frozen was promoting homosexual lifestyle after seeing it three times with various grandchildren.
Skagg made a statement by saying, "The gay agenda to normalize homosexuality is woven into Disney's movie 'Frozen' not just as an underlying message - it is the movie," she wrote. "In a liberal culture tenacious at normalizing immorality, stripping those of faith from their ability to speak out in opposition, this needs to be taken seriously.
"It is apparent that the very best talent within the industry was called upon ... in order to woo its intended audience, parents, into a frozen-state, which would then allow liberalism to indoctrinate children."
Skagg cited 3 theories for this to be true; Elsa's magical powers, which the blogger calls a metaphor for homosexuality. Elsa is ostracized by the public and her family, just like the "demonization of homosexuals by society," adding that her sister Anna's shotgun wedding to a man she barely knows illustrated how "heterosexuals diminish marriage." Finally the ending wherein Elsa's family and community finally accept her for who she is sends the message that gays (Elsa) are not the problem, but rather society is the problem for rejecting them.
Kevin Swanson went even further and accused Disney of using the film to turn children gay.
"This evil, just evil," the pastor said. "I wonder if people are thinking: 'You know I think this cute little movie is going to indoctrinate my 5-year-old to be a lesbian or treat homosexuality or bestiality in a light sort of way.'
"I wonder if the average parent going to see 'Frozen' is thinking that way. I wonder if they are just walking in and saying, 'Yeah, let's get my 5-year-old and 7-year-old indoctrinated early.' I think for the most part they're oblivious. Maybe they do pick up on pieces of it, but they just don't get up and walk out."
His co-host Steve Vaughn said Disney is using the movie "to indoctrinate my 5-year-old to be a lesbian."
National Catholic Register writer Steven Greydanus said the rejected Elsa is a symbol for oppressed gay people, while he also pointed out that Elsa, unlike her boy-crazy sister, shows no interest in dating and, therefore, must be a lesbian.
This is not Disney's first time in the limelight when it comes to accusations of using children's movies as a way to show liberal agenda. Caitlin Dickson of the Daily Beast asked whether 'Frozen' was "the gayest movie of the year," saying that, "If you're legitimately concerned about a Disney movie turning your children gay, you might be just the choir Swanson and Skaggs are preaching to."
