Raising Hope Episode 4 Season 17 Recap: Raising Hope Season An annual telethon was held on in Natesville in which Burt and Virginia Chance had been longing to show their song number in front of televiewers for years. But, how they have tried there had been always something that goes wrong. Now, this was the first telethon since they became friends with Barney, the annual host, so they are guaranteed to get on the air. The couple has been giving so much weight in television thinking that what they do is what always happens in a TV show.
Meanwhile, Sabrina and Jimmy are faced with a parenting problem since the pet goldfish of Hope died. Burt and Virginia came over to their house to borrow their dining table because Virginia's boss will be coming over for dinner and they will talk about business. She had also been looking forward for a promotion that's why she was really stepping up her game to impress her.
Jimmy and Sabrina, together with Hope, held a funeral for the goldfish. Jimmy was talking about the fish, but Hope stood up and flushed the fish in the toilet, giggled, then ran away. They taught that it was their fault because they didn't let her take care of it so she didn't connect with it. They got another fish and this time she's taking care of it. Next day, Hope found the fish dead and said "Dead fish! Dead fish!" And Sabrina was surprised because they only bought the fish yesterday. Then Hope chanted "Flush the fish! Flush the fish", laughed, then ran away again.
Virginia and her boss went out for business, but she was shocked when they arrived at a strip club to negotiate with two Japanese women. She missed the rehearsal for their number in the telethon because of this. Her boss thinks she has it in her to be more than crew chief, she thinks that she can climb all the way to the top.
Sabrina and Jimmy sought help from Frank and borrowed his pet mice as a new pet for Hope. Sabrina introduced it to Hope, but she refused to get to know the new pet. They were still trying to make Hope like it, but they were unsuccessful. Jimmy climbed a bookshelf to put the mice somewhere safer, but he fell on his back. Sabrina and Hope came running for him, then Hope hugged and kiss her daddy. Jimmy said, "Well, she just care about one stupid animal... Me."
Viriginia got stuck with her boss during a business meeting in a strip club making her miss their performance in the telethon. Burt still pushed through even though he was alone to sing their duet. He sung seven renditions of Don't go breaking my heart, but still Virginia hadn't arrived. This made people took their donations in the telethon. Then Virginia came and apologized because she got caught up in her job and forgot what's more important. They kissed on air and when they were supposed to sing their duet, the telethon reached the target pledges and they still didn't have the chance to perform.
Virginia realized that you can't let focusing on your job get in the way of being together. Burt added that, it worked out in a clear and unexpected way because they did it the way they do in tv. It also turned out that Hope had compassion; she's just not a pet person. Virginia said that Jimmy and Sabrina did it that way they did in a television show which Jimmy loved when he was a kid, which showed the scene when Jimmy fell down the bookshelf.
