Wimbledon Champ Andy Murray News: Andy Murray and Coach Ivan Lendl have brought their coaching partnership to an end after two and a quarter year.

In a statement written in Murray's website, it appeared that the coach set off the split.

Lendl said, "Working with Andy over the last two years has been a fantastic experience for me. He is a first class guy. Having helped him achieve his goal of winning major titles, I feel like it is time for me to concentrate on some of my own projects moving forward including playing more events around the world which I am really enjoying."

Before Murray became the first British player in 77 years to win the men's singles at Wimbledon, Lendl helped the Champ to an Olympic gold medal in 2012 and the US Open title later the same year.

"I'm eternally grateful to Ivan for all his hard work over the past two years, the most successful of my career so far," Murray stated. "I'll take some time with the team to consider the next steps and how we progress from here," he added.

Murray said of Lendl, "He's made me learn more from the losses than I did before and he's always been very honest with me and believed in me when other people maybe didn't. Ivan's been very patient, as I'm not always easy to deal with. He's also honest with me. If I work hard he's happy, if I don't he's disappointed and he'll tell me. He has got me mentally slightly different going into these big matches."

Mail Online reported that 'although there had been no overt signs of difficulties between Murray and Lendl there have been a few areas of concern opening up since the 26-year-old Scot returned from back surgery, which he underwent at the end of last September. Lendl has always made it clear that he would not travel full-time with Murray and has not been with him since the Australian Open, where he made the quarter finals. He was absent playing on the senior tour in other cities in America last week while the British No 1, currently down to No 6 in the world, toiled in Indian Wells, where he lost in the fourth round to Milos Raonic in a surprisingly tame deciding set.'

'The split will take many by surprise, although there has been a downturn in Murray's results since Wimbledon. That, though, can largely be attributed to the back injury he had and the surgery he has since undergone.' Sky Sports said in a report.

Murray will seem to work with his permanent on-the-road hitting partner, assistant coach and close friend Dani Vallverdu for now, reinforced by his physio and fitness support team.
