Milwaukee Bucks Rumors: The Milwaukee Bucks, currently the owners of the worst record in the NBA (13-55), could possibly have a new owner next season.
With OJ Mayo playing terrible the whole year and Larry Sanders already declared last Wednesday that he is out for the rest of the season, it is obvious that change and help are needed in Milwaukee.
Despite this, many are still interested in owning the franchise. The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel's Don Walker confirmed as much on Wednesday:
"It's a pretty robust process," the source said. "There's a lot of interest in the NBA and this is the only team on the market. There is a considerable amount of interest.
"It's safe to say that anybody with the means and interest in the NBA has inquired. A lot of phone calls from around the country," the source said.
Former Milwaukee Bucks great and Hall of Famer Kareem Abdul Jabbar, who just recently scored a merchandising deal with Amazon has expressed interest in buying the team. The idea of former players jumping in could provide the Bucks players a boost of morale and a sense of change, but in reality it's going to take far more than this to make this work.
Although Jabbar might sound as the strongest candidate as of now, there are other investors who are willing to grab the opportunity of owning the team, especially because the Bucks is in a great position of landing the number one pick in 2014's talent loaded draft. The source said "if you draw a circle with Milwaukee as the center, there would be a significant amount of interest within striking distance of the center."
"The team is probably going to change hands soon, I don't know what's going to happen specifically, but I'm keeping an eye on it. I might possibly try to be involved, it would be great to be able to help the franchise where, that I worked for, get back to the top. They deserve it, the Wisconsin sports fans are incredible, and they deserve a first-rate team."
