People were dumbfounded at the GDC 2014: DirectX 12 demo where the Forza 5 xbox one ran on DX12 at 1080p and 60 fps. But what many thought to be a Forza 5 that ran on an Xbox One is really a Forz 5 game that ran on a GTX Titan-powered PC!
Something interesting happened at the DirectX12 GDC Reveal. Microsoft showed a demo of Forza 5 running at 1080p and 60fps and almost everyone thought it was running on the Xbox One. However what actually happened was the Forza 5 demo was running at A GTX Titan powered PC.
Was Microsoft trying to pass off PC footage as Xbox One footage?
As you may know, Microsoft demoed Forza 5 running at a rock solid 60 frames per second at 1080p. The addition of DX12 to Xbox One seemed like a brilliant way show that Xbox One can handle 1080p at 60 fps but that was not the case in this one.
Nvdia released a statement that the reason for the demo was to show how easy it was to port an Xbox One game to PC and it was not an Xbox One showcase.
However one has to wonder was it meant to impress anyone because if they wanted to impress people on how easy it is to port games, they should have used a "weaker" card instead of a GTX Titan. Why was it needed to run that Xbox one game with one of the most powerful GPU's right now?
So now there is an interesting point to consider. Does this mean that we will be seeing Forza 5 on PC anytime soon? However Nvidia has updated its statements to state that Forza 5 will not be coming to PC after all since the purpose was only to show how easy a port can be.
