Grey's Anatomy Season 10 Episode 16 Recap: Previously on Grey's Anatomy, Callie's privileges on their joint research had been taken away since Derek accepted the Brain Mapping project from the White House. Torres started the research and claimed her intellectual property on it.

Derek and Callie had to stop doing the research because of his ongoing project. Callie consulted with her lawyer regarding the issue and she had also talked to the Chief of Surgery, Owen Hunt. He cancelled Derek's surgery in which he was supposed to remove the sensors from the patient (part of the research). During the meeting, Callie emphasized that the sensors were materials he could have developed with her in service of the research she started and invited him to participate in and if he would impair her access to the materials, she would have him prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. In reply to this, Derek just said it was insane and they didn't have the case. Owen wanted to work with other members to find a solution that would be fair to both parties and in the meantime he wanted the matter to be left alone.

Derek disobeyed and still talked to Callie regarding the issue. He said that if she would understand the Brain Mapping project would do, she would share her technology. She rebutted that he was stealing it.

"It comes down to this, my research is just as important as yours", Callie pointed out. Still, Derek stood strong since his name is in the material and patent, so it was his. As a friend, he apologized and added that he feels terrible. Callie replied that he feels terrible because it's a wrong thing to do and he knows it.

erek, together with Callie, met with the people from the White House regarding the project. He said that they were willing to share their sensors with them, only if their work continues, and everybody else's research continues. Lloyd, from the White House, insisted that they had a contract that Is very clear that they have sole right to the sensors or he will be out. Dr. Shepherd then replied that he is out and he will even tell it to the President himself. He also demanded that either the policy goes or he goes. Then, he responded that they will figure out a way to share the sensors and Dr. Torres can now continue her work. Torres and Shepherd rejoiced and were very happy of the outcome of the discussion.
