It took decades before plans of having a new Cheech and Chong movie came out. Why did it take so long? Does it take another pot-smoking centered film to pave way for the comeback of the stoner duo? Before Seth Rogen and James Franco showed their weed misadventures on the big screen, Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong have been doing that since the 1970s.

The former stand-up comediansreleased several movies that featured their best friend - which is marijuana. One of their most memorable movies is Up In Smoke (1978), where viewers die of laughing seeing the two get into all sorts of crazy situations because of smoking pot.

A new Cheech and Chong movie was released after five years and it was called Still Smokin'. Their most recent film was Cheech & Chong's Animated Movie (2013), but fans still prefer seeing the real guys and not the cartoon version.

Fans of the weed-smoking pair will now have a reason to celebrate because Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong are currently in the talks with director Jay Chandrasekhar (Super Troopers) for a new movie.

In an interview with CelebStoner, Chong revealed new updates regarding their latest film. He said, "He [Chandrasekhar] is working a script right now for us." Chong added, "We've had some preliminary meetings. It looks really good. It looks really funny. It will be about us going to a festival called the Burning Joint. All sorts of shenanigans happen. It's going to be a lot of fun."

I'm sure all potheads out there are imagining that scene right now. Aside from the Super Troopers director, Cheech's manager Ben Fagen was also involved in the film. Chong said, "They came at us with a rough idea and now they're fleshing it out and making it into a budgetable script." He added, "We could start shooting this summer."

There's a lot of expectations on the new Cheech and Chong movie because of all the stoner films coming out lately. Do you think the comedic duo can still keep up with the younger weed smokers?
