Beenox has another video showcasing all the good things in the new "Amazing Spider-Man 2" video game with the emphasis on the web swinging and slinging of everyone's favorite webhead.
In the video we're seeing a much more polished version of the web swinging from what we saw in the previous game and the earlier trailers and sneak peeks for this one.
The feel of soaring through the air (when not hanging on to a web) seems a step up from what we saw in "Spider-Man 2" movie tie-in game for the Xbox, GC and PS2 which is in itself an absolutely awesome achievement.
However, when actually web swinging, does it feel better than the "Spider-Man 2" tie in game?
Around 0:49 we see Spidey fly through a light post while swinging low. It seems sloppy programming to not include collisions with some objects while web swinging.
At 0:53 we see Spidey zip to a ledge and run along side it with a completely on-rails feeling for the viewer/player. It looks like a quick time event in the middle of the game, like the action sequences you first saw in games like God of War where you mash buttons to pull off combos. The camera wasn't aimed in the direction Spidey was running and it didn't look like the player was doing it. Finally, the way he jumps off the ledge again in the direction the camera is facing looks very unrealistic. It looks like he flies off the ledge instead of jumping from it.
It seems like while Beenox did some work to improve the web swinging and slinging in this game, the "Spider-Man 2" movie tie-in game is better in that aspect.
But what do you think? Sound off in the comments below!
