There is a newcomer joining the Fantastic Four reboot cast! According to Variety, Toby Kebbell will now officially play the role of Dr. Doom in the movie adaptation of the popular comic book. Before the 31-year old actor was chosen, the filmmakers had narrowed down their choice to four actors.
Based on the report of The Wrap, other actors included in the list were Sam Riley, Domhnall Gleeson, and Eddie Redmayne. Among four actors, Toby Kebbell was luckily chosen for the antagonist role. The British actor may not be that famous yet, but he already appeared in several blockbuster films including the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Wrath of the Titans, The Sorcerer's Apprentice, and Oliver Stone's Alexander.
Kebbell's role in the bio-film Control has won him a Best Supporting Actor at the British Independent Film Award in 2007. The English actor has always been consistent in his career doing at least one movie per year. He will appear in the upcoming movie Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, which is a sequel to the Rise of the Planet of the Apes.
Next year, Toby Kebbell will be joining the other Fantastic Four reboot cast: Michael B. Jordan as The Human Torch, Kate Mara as Invisible Woman, Miles Teller as Mr. Fantastic, and Jamie Bell as The Thing. The reboot will be directed by Josh Trank, who is known for his work in the sci-fi film Chronicle.
The 2005 film adaptation of Fantastic Four featured a stellar cast including Chris Evans. People may compare the new actors to the original actors, but the 'Captain America' star is confident that the new breed of talents will do well.
In an interview with New York Daily News, the former Human Torch revealed that he gave his blessings to Michael B. Jordan. Evans said, "It's so funny, you almost feel precious over the role that you don't want someone else to do it. But when you hear someone phenomenal is doing it, it's very exciting like you almost can't wait... I couldn't even give that guy any advice if I wanted, that guy is so good. It's exciting to see what he's going to do, because I know he's going to reinvent it in a way that I could never have imagined."
I wonder what Julian McMahon will have to say about Toby Kebbell joining the Fantastic Four reboot cast as the new Dr. Doom.
