The Nigella Lawson scandal shocked many people because she always appeared so sweet and nice in front of the camera. It is really hard to believe that the innocent-looking lady was a junkie!
Last year, she admitted that she used cocaine and marijuana in the past during a court hearing for her and her ex-husband's case against her former assistants. Nigella's admission of drug use could have influenced the jury to acquit her former assistants.
In an interview with BBC, the celebrity chef revealed that she had better times. Nigella said, "We all gossip, but I don't take a particularly lofty view. Perhaps having a layer of skin removed, I'm also more aware of other people's misfortunes."
It has been months since she admitted using drugs, but Nigella didn't expect it to get worse. A few days ago, the 54-year old chef went to Heathrow to catch a flight to Los Angeles. According to The Daily Mail, Nigella thought that she has cleared security when she checked-in. But someone approached her and said that she wasn't allowed to board the plane.
A witness said, "She didn't seem to say much, but she did not look happy. She could not get on the flight so she had to turn around and leave." Who would have thought that the Nigella Lawson scandal will end up to this?
According to the spokesperson of the US Department of Homeland Security, "In general, an alien found inadmissible will need a waiver of inadmissibility." The representative added, "Depending on the basis of their refusal they may be eligible to apply in advance of travel for a temporary waiver of inadmissibility. The waiver application process can be lengthy."
A source told The Evening Standard, "Lawson will now be invited to come back in through a different process." I guess we won't be seeing the beautiful chef in America for a couple of months.
Anthony Bourdain showed his support to fellow chef by noting that Mayor Rob Ford of Toronto, who admitted smoking crack, has been allowed to travel back and forth to the United States. The superstar chef even tweeted, "Toronto mayor, Rob Ford? Welcome to the USA. Nigella Lawson? No. REALLY? Absolutely appalling misuse of our system. And by whom? How?"
Do you think the U.S. government is being fair to Nigella Lawson with their decision to ban her for admitting using drugs in the past?
