There was a stabbing rampage in the hallways of Franklin Regional High School early Wednesday morning.
CBS News reports that at least 20 people have been injured during the stabbing, while four suffer from serious wounds.
A school security guard reportedly called in the stabbing at 7:13am. Police say that the 16-year-old male student suspect is in custody and is a sophomore at the high school.
Although the motives aren't clear yet, investigators are currently looking into reports of a threatening phone call between the suspect and another student the night before.
It isn't clear whether the suspect received or made the phone call.
The suspect was reportedly armed with two knives at Franklin Regional during his stabbing spree until he was tackled by the assistant principal.
The student had been so stealthy about the stabbings that no one knew about it until screaming was heard in the distance, according to Reuters.
Freshman at Franklin Regional, Josh Frank, stated, "He did it so stealthily that at first no one knew what was happening. We heard a girl scream bloody murder. Then two seniors were running down that hall and we followed them out of the school."
Michael Float, an 18-year-old senior, said he had just gotten to school when he saw "blood all over the floor" and smeared on the wall near the main entrance. He then found a wounded student.
Float explained, "He had his shirt pulled up and he was screaming, 'Help! Help!' He had a stab wound right at the top of his stomach, blood pouring down."
Most of the 21 victims were students along with a security guard, who was stabbed in the stomach.
Mark Rubino, chief medical officer at Forbes Hospital, said his team treated eight victims, three of whom had severe injuries.
Rubino told ABC News, "We were ready to handle what came in the door."
He stated that the injuries spanned from "relatively superficial wounds" to "severe injuries to abdominal injuries."
Rubino added that all of the stab wounds appeared to follow a pattern and were inflicted on the victims' lower abdomens.
