It's finally here, guys! The much anticipated Watch Dogs PC footage! But does it show downgraded graphics?
Ubisoft has released a new video showing off the PC version of open-world action game Watch Dogs.
In the video, below, lead engineer Paul Vlasie discusses how Ubisoft Montreal has worked with graphics company Nvidia to add exclusive features to the PC version of the game.
The PC version uses Nvidia's HBAO Plus (Horizon Based Ambient Occlusion) technology, which adds richer and more realistic shadows around objects that occlude rays of light.
It also uses Nvidia's TXAA technology, a new cinematic-style anti-aliasing technique that reduces the flickering you sometimes see in motion when playing a game.
"By working with Nvidia we really want to make sure PC gamers will be able to enjoy and explore the most realistic and visually stunning world environment ever created," Vlasie said, "the Windy City like you've never seen it before."
Watch Dogs has had a love hate relationship with its graphics after it was re-unveiled last month, with the visuals accused of suffering a "downgrade" after the game's stunning reveal at E3 2012. The developer Ubisoft Montreal has maintained that the footage shown at E3 2012 was taken from the PC version of the game, with recently-released videos coming from the console versions.
Upon the release of the Watch Dogs PC video, Xbox One gamers complained on various social networking sites that the Watch Dogs version they are getting have been "gimped" because the console is too weak to handle the full graphical blunt of the game as seen on the PC.
Will Xbox One owners trade their console for a PC? We will know in the weeks to come.
