There's been a lot of talk about the Watch Dogs Wii U version, some are saying that the game has been canned altogether or Ubisoft just cutting their loses and putting it on the back burner. Ubisoft has finally put the issue to rest as they've announced the Watch Dogs Wii U release date!
Nintendo Enthusiast managed to reach out to a Ubisoft representative and asked about the game's release status on Nintendo's little console that could. As stated in the article...
"We've reached out to a Ubisoft representative for a confirmation and were told that the game is indeed targeting a Fall 2014 release date."
The last bit of news we heard about Watch Dogs Wii U was that Ubisoft had to take some of the programmers off the project to help with the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game.
Unfortunately, we actually don't know much about what kind of utilization Ubisoft will make of the Wii U's capabilities, but we do know that the Gamepad is likely to play a big role in the hacking elements of the game. As we all know, Watch Dogs kind of centers around hacking, so hopefully the Gamepad utilization is as keen in Watch Dogs Wii U as it was in ZombiU.
Polygon captured a slightly more in-depth view of the topic, speaking with senior producer Domnic Guay:
"We have our studio in Bucharest working on it, and we wanted that team to have the time to explore the GamePad and be able to have fun with it and see how far they could push it," ... "It's also an interesting platform, because it has its own strength, which we want to take advantage of, and we didn't want to delay all the other platforms for that one. So we're going to take the time we need to make sure the game is good (technically) when we ship it and that it also, game design-wise, makes good use of the specifics of the Wii U."
It should be noted that the Watch Dogs Wii U version will be graphically inferior compared to its PS4 and Xbox One counterparts but it isn't known if it will run at a higher framerate than those two according to gaming news site, Cyberland.
