Google Glass news reports say that it will be tested for use in battle. The research team, Battlefield Air Targeting Man-Aided K[n]owledge (BATMAN), working for the US Air Force, is undergoing beta-testing the Glass technology for military use. Sources say that the testing has positive results.

Software developer, Andres Calvo, described the device saying that its appeal lies in its ability to "access information very quickly." BATMAN researcher, 2nd Lt. Anthony Eastin that Google glass has the advantage of "low power, low footprint, screen is above the eyes, and it is not in the field of vision," filehippo.com reports.

While there was no agreement between the Air Force and Google, they did have the rights to a couple of pairs of Google Glass via the Explorer program, which enables buyers to pay $1,500 for each pair of glasses for a trial run. In the Air Force environment, Glass would be of assistance in abating aircrafts to targets, communication, ground troop action and search and rescue missions.

A spokesperson for Google said, "The Glass Explorer program includes people from all walks of life, including doctors, firefighters, and parents. Anyone can apply to become a Glass Explorer, provided he or she is a U.S. resident and over the age of 18."

Google Glass news cites that it would provide a comparable display to that of an advanced fighter jet or commercial plane that keeps contact with air traffic control and other aircrafts. The Google Glass being tested by the Airforce research team is being accepted by members of the BATMAN team. But there is still a doubt as to how Google Glass will perform under military attack conditions. Nonetheless, inclusion in a military kit would mean hefty revenues for Google at least in the nascent operational stages when the Glass can perform tasks with a highly level of performance.
