Prince George News Update: The royal baby waved goodbye to New Zealand today as the Duke of Cambridge carried him onto an aeroplane bound for Australia.

The Little Prince, wearing a white cardigan and navy blue shorts, embarked a Royal Australian Air Force plane going to Sydney after the Duke and Duchess were given a huge send-off by Kiwis.

The royal couple were greeted by the biggest crowd of their 10-day stay in New Zealand. Tens of thousands of people showed up to give the Duke and the Duchess a loving farewell as they shook hands with hundreds of well-wishers before and after signing the city's visitors book.

According to The Telegraph, the Duchess had earlier apologised to members of the public for leaving her "very podgy baby" with his nanny, saying he was asleep as she and her husband went on a walkabout in the capital city, Wellington.

Earlier during the day, the couple visited the Royal New Zealand Police College. They looked do delighted to be introduced to a couple of 12-day old puppies from the Dog Training Center.

"It wants to hide under my jacket. I think it can smell George," the Duchess said as she picked up a puppy and stroked it.

The Telegraph described the couple's activity after meeting the dogs. The college's kapa haka (Maori cultural) group gave a spontaneous performance of Singing in the Rain. The royal couple was amused.

The couple were also given with a police onesie for Prince George that has "junior recruit" printed on it.

"Fantastic. Brilliant. He'll love that. Thank you. Will it fit him? He's grown!" the Duke said. "He's grown lots!" the Duchess added.

According to reports, the couple met families who are training police dog puppies, including John and Sarah Bole with their daughters Morgan, 14, Madison, 10, and Monet, eight, with dog Gessy, aged four months.

The royal family will land in Sydney later today before the Duke and Duchess go to a civic reception at the Sydney Opera House.

The Duchess wore a navy blue skirt suit by the New Zealand designer Rebecca Taylor before the left for Australia.
