Community Season 5 Episode 12 Recap: "Save Greendale" was the theme of the two-part finale of Community's season five. Previously, Subway was supposed to hold its sandwich university in Greendale, Jeff and Britta got engaged, and Dean Pelton, Annie, and Abed found a map leading to the treasure which they assumed that can be used to save the school.
The gang watched a video of the founder of Greendale Computer College which was then changed into a community college. He was said to be inventing a machine that can process emotions that is made up of gold. Rumors spread that he got in a relationship with his computer and he died with a computer virus. His remains and his wealth were not found.
They found a confession of the first dean behind the portrait of the founder, Russel Borchert, saying that the computer department was sealed off and removed the stairwell to that entire section. Criminology professor and Shirley arrived with the blue print of the school and this said stairwell was found to be in the faculty's lounge.
Abed found the stairwell. Chang had been eavesdropping on the gang and called the school board. When they broke the door, they just found Shirley, Duncan, and Professor Hickey sipping tea. The rest were already on their way to find the hidden section. They found the machine made of gold and to their surprise they also met Russel.
Some Subway people found the hatchet and the school board including Chang went in. They stole the money which was given by Russel to the gang. They also destroyed Raquel (machine with emotions) with the use of a magnet. They had been trapped inside since it was the machine controlling the doors. It can be fixed through a burst of emotions to shock the mainframe. Jeff fixed it when he used his feelings for Annie.
They were just in time to stop the contract signing between Subway and Greendale when they showed them the proof of ownership of Russel. Indeed, they saved Greendale, Jeff and Britta's engagement were off, Chang became part of the school board and had diamond teeth.
Hoping for a sixth season (and a movie)? NBC has yet to announce its renewal. It will, maybe, seem like Annie will still have a shot in what's left of Jeff's heart.
