Richard Gere is currently in New York filming his new movie "Time Out of Mind." According to Page Six, the 64-year-old actor has started to date Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi while in the city. A source told Page Six, "They have been quietly spending some time together. It is all very new and recent, and happened while he has been filming in New York." Gere is currently in the midst of a divorce from his actress wife of 11 years, Carey Lowell. Gere and Lowell split in September 2013. They share son Homer, 14. Before being married to Lowell, Gere was previously married to supermodel Cindy Crawford for four years;they were divorced in 1995.
Gere stars as a homeless man named George who is trying to reconnect with his daughter Maggie (Jena Malone) in the movie "Time Out of Mind."
Lakshmi, 43, lives in New York with Krishna, 3, her daughter with ex Adam Dell, the venture capitalist brother of computer legend Michael Dell. The "Top Chef" host and cookbook author was previously married to "Midnight's Children" writer Salman Rushdie for three years before they divorced in 2007, and dated billionaire Teddy Forstmann until his death in 2011.
While his love life may be improving, it seems that Gere is having trouble selling Strongheart, an historic 12 bedroom 12 bathroom manor house on a six-acre bay-front in North Haven. The actor has lowered the asking price by $9 million, according to the website for the agency listing the property. The home was built in 1890 and renovated by its current owners. Gere first listed the property last summer for $65 million. The price has now been reduced to $56 million. Strongheart also has two guesthouses, an al fresco fireplace pavilion and a teahouse on a private island in a waterfront pond.
