Last night saw the finale of "God's Gift - 14 Days. Despite its smart writing, top-notch acting and breathtaking pace, the drama was never able to reach first place in the ratings. It did go up a negligible 0.1 percent from the previous episode, taking it from 8.3 percent to 8.4 percent.
No one can argue that the final episodes of "God's Gift - 14 Days" delivered more excellent performances by Lee Bo Young, Jo Seung Woo, Kim Tae Woo and B1A4's Baro. And viewers were in suspense until the final few minutes. But while many of the drama's mysteries were solved, the ending still had some viewers puzzled over exactly what happened.
"Empress Ki" once again held first place with ratings of 26.6 percent, up 3.7 percent from the last episode, which earned 22.9 percent. The 51-episode historical drama about the real-life Korean-born empress stars Ha Ji Won, Ji Chang Wook and Joo Jin Mo.
Both of the dramas' episodes focused on a mother's love, with Lee Bo Young racing against time to save her drama daughter, and Ha Ji Won doing what she needed to save her son, Crown Prince Ayu.
On "Empress Ki," Ha Ji Won's character Seungnyang plotted to defeat the last of her enemies, the scheming Empress Dowager and the power-hungry Regent. And while she achieved the death of the regent Bayan and punished the deposed empress Bayan Hudu, the plot ultimately backfired on her. With only two episodes remaining, she will have to struggle to achieve her place in history.
Rather than start a new drama that might compete with the final episodes of "Empress Ki" and "God's Gift - 14 Days," KBS aired the drama special "Their Perfect Day." It remained in third place for both episodes, dropping 0.8 percent from 4.6 percent to 3.8 percent on the second night. The drama special starred SongSeon Mi, Shin Dong Mi, Kim Se Ah I, Sa Hyeon Jin and Byeon Jeong Soo.
KBS has chosen to premiere its new drama "Big Man" on the same night as the first of the final two episodes of "Empress Ki." It will begin on April 28. "Big Man" stars Daniel Choi, Kang Ji Hwan, Lee Da Hee and Jung So Min.
SBS has decided to delay the premiere of "You're Surrounded" until May 7. "You're Surrounded" stars Lee Seung Gi, Ahn Jae Hyun and Go Ara as rookie cops with Cha Seung Won as the head of their violent crimes unit.
