The Godzilla reboot Japanese Trailers and the official IMAX poster for the movie is online! It looks like the Japanese are outshining the Americans when it comes to promoting their movies. So the question is, which is better?
Given the fact that Godzilla originated from Japan, this may well give the movie some justice, as the Godzilla films were made way back in the early Showa series in 1954, until it ended in the Millennium series in 2004 by way of Godzilla: Final Wars. When Roland Emmerich attempted to make a western version of Godzilla, and introduce him to the American audiences. It turned out to be a disaster and was considered one of the worst movies in the box office. But, with re-emergence of Godzilla movie in 2014, it looks like we can get another chance of seeing the old monster rampaging again on the big screen, and help us forget Emmerich take on the King of the Monsters.
The two Japanese trailers of Godzilla gave more emphasis on the horror aspect of the film, rather than its action sequence as stated in an article by Screerant. We could see in the trailers a couple of scenes of continued destruction and mayhem with Alexandre Desplat's chilling score, and both trailers ended with the camera panning upward towards Godzilla, showcasing his intimidating and colossal size.
The new IMAX poster has a Japanese feel into it, and it is an obvious sign of paying tribute to the franchise. The design shows a silhouetted Godzilla against the white and red Japanese flag and we see Godzilla towering over the city as soldiers are pointing their guns at him.
Godzilla is directed by Gareth Edwards and it stars, Aaron Tayor-Johnson, Bryan Cranston, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche, Sally Hawkins, and David Stranthairn. The film will be release in cinemas on May 13, 2014.
