Samsung Galaxy S3 Update: Galaxy S3 users are still waiting in vain as Galaxy Note 2 started receiving the Android 4.4 Kitkat OS update according to International Business Times.
Report says that Samsung started rolling out Android 4.4 KitKat update for its second generation Galaxy Note smartphone. Users in Europe will be the first to get updated mobile software, most specifically in France. The update will then roll out to different parts of Europe.
According to SamMobile, the new firmware brings a number of enhancements included in the latest version of Google's platform, as well as many Samsung-made improvements and tweaks. Some of the noticeable changes in the smartphone-tablet hybrid are full-screen album art, camera shortcut on the lock screen, wireless printing support, NFC tap-to-pay, options to set default messaging and launcher apps and better stability. There's also Samsung KNOX support to enable more secure communication and Samsung Wallet.
Previous reports claimed that the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update should roll out in May to these Samsung Galaxy S3 models: GT-I9300, GT-I9305, SHV-E210K, SHV-E210L, SHV-E210S, SGH-T999/L, SGH-I747, SGH-N064, SGH-N035, SCH-J021, SCH-R530, SCH-I535, SCH-S960L, SCH-S968C, SPH-L710, SCH-I939 and SCH-S968C.
According to Daum, a Korean publication, it seems like Samsung will bring all the features along with the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for the Galaxy S3.
Samsung confirmed several weeks ago that it would be releasing the Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat update in the United States. Shortly after that, Sprint confirmed that it would be rolling out the update to its customers, a sign that most, if not all U.S. carriers will be rolling the update out in the future as reported in Gotta Be Mobile.
According to the same report, Samsung Poland announced that it would be rolling out the Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat update though the roll out would be limited to the Galaxy S3 LTE model with 2GB of RAM. The 1GB model, it said, would not be getting the bump up to Android 4.4 KitKat. In the weekscarriers confirm a number of upcoming Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat updates but Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat is not yet evident.
Faryaab Sheikh, editor-in-chief of SamMobile, claims that there is no Galaxy S3 GT-i9300 Android 4.4 KitKat update test builds, a sign that the update is not yet palpable. SamMobile is a site with a solidtrack record when it comes to Samsung software update so Sheikh's information is credible according to Gotta Be Mobile.
Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat update for the GT-I9300 still hasn't entered internal testing according to an insider. Furthermore, the insider claims that the Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 Android 4.4 KitKat update will never roll out to users.
Sheik also identified that there "will be no KitKat update" for the GT-I9300 version of the Galaxy S3, which ropes with Samsung Poland's statement from weeks ago. The GT-i9300 model utilizes 1GB of RAM and it seems that Samsung will not guise the 1GB model with Google's brand new version of Android. The Sprint Galaxy S3 is an LTE model and uses 2GB of RAM report says.
While there will be many Samsung Galaxy S3 owners that are due a free upgrade soon, some may not want to agree to a new two year contract, and that doesn't account for the countless others that have longer to go or own an unlocked version of the handset, Phone Review says.
