Floyd Mayweather's fight versus Marcos Maidana is happening on May 3 yet it i apparent during the pre-fight festivities that the "Money" is showing unusual respect towards his opponent.
The undefeated boxing icon and current pound-for-pound king Floyd "Money" Mayweather (45-0, 26 wins by knockout) has always been his brash and outspoken. It is something that boxing fans have always been accustomed to seeing since the 37-year old native of Grand Rapids, Michigan rose to mainstream prominence in 2007, after defeating multi-titled boxer Oscar De La Hoya.
But for the Floyd Mayweather versus Marcos Maidana fight, the 2013 Fighter of the Year has been courteous towards his next opponent - Argentina's rising star "El Chino" (35-3, 31 wins by knockout).
"This is a fight that everybody is anticipating because Maidana is a guy that never backs down. He's a guy that comes straight ahead, all-action. He's an action-packed fighter," said the "Money" in an exclusive interview with Fight Hub TV about the Floyd Mayweather versus Marcos Maidana fight.
"He's a hungry lion and I'm a veteran of the sport. So when the two come together, you get nothing but a classic and a very, very exciting fight," he added.
Despite having shown visible signs of aging and slowing down, both fans and experts still continue to boldly laud Mayweather as the greatest fighter of this era.
His unique defensive prowess and counterpunching ability have made him an impossible opponent to figure out and defeat. And even though he admits that he was indeed hurt in his last two fights, he still promises a great show for the fans, and possibly, a knockout victory for the Floyd Mayweather versus Marcos Maidana fight.
"This fight right here, we're looking for a knockout. In the Canelo fight, I got hurt. In the Guerrero fight, I got hurt. My last two fights, I got hurt. But this time, we're looking to stand right there and give the people what they want to see. That's what it's about, excitement."
Mayweather will be facing Maidana in a unification title bout on May 3rd, at Las Vegas' boxing mecca, the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
