Samsung Galaxy S5 Updates: Samsung is reported to be working on a new handset codenamed Project KQ, which is rumored to be the premium version of the Galaxy S5 according to Reuters. Samsung Electronics Co. (KRX:005935) has been believed to be planning to launch a premium model of the Galaxy S5, tagged as the Galaxy S5 Prime, a new report according to International Business Times said Sunday that the company could release the new handset sometime in June.
Asia Today reported that the South Korean company could release the "Prime" variation of the Galaxy S5, which is expected to feature a QHD display with a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels, "around June." While Samsung has not revealed anything about the new handset with the "S5" signature, some reports are expecting the company to announce the device in early June and to release it later that month.
Galaxy S5 Prime, according to Asia Today's report, is expected to take on the LG G3 that is also likely to sport a 2560×1440 QHD screen. It is said to focus on European and American markets. According to reports, LG G3 could hit markets in early July.
PhoneArena reported that while Samsung has reportedly denied the existence of the Galaxy S5 Prime, a Samsung-branded handset with model number SM-906S recently appeared in an AnTuTu benchmark featuring a QHD display.
Report from SamMobile said that Samsung has been working on a new handset code-named Project KQ, which is rumored to be the premium version of the Galaxy S5, called the S5 Prime, which could feature a metallic build.
According to IBTimes, allegedly, Galaxy S5 Prime is expected to be powered by a new octa-core Exynos 5430 processor that sports an integrated Intel LTE modem. The device's CPU is rumored to be clocking at up to 2.1 GHz on the powerful Cortex-A15 cores and 1.5GHz on the low-power Cortex-A7 cores, and the Mali T6XXX GPU rated at 600MHz.
Meanwhile, Phandroid stated "that evidence of the device's existence has surfaced on Samsung's website. The model umber SM-G906S has appeared in the company's Find My Mobile page as an alternative model of the Galaxy S5, which is the same model number of an unknown device with 2560 x 1440 resolution that once appeared in a GFX Bench benchmark. That's not solid confirmation on its own, but something clearly exists that Samsung is planning to bring into the light soon."
